Literature Text

Dear Somebody, please listen
Because I have so much to say
When I finish, please don't answer
You should just walk away

I saw you in a suit last night
And how your pale blue eyes did gleam
There was a wedding of some sort
I saw you in a dream

I kept on walking, did not stop
I was going to pass you by
I wanted no more heartbreak
I wasn't even going to try

But you looked up and you saw me
As I was passing through
Our eyes met for a moment
And then what did you do?

You pushed you way through the crowd
Til you were by my side
You took my hand then bent to kiss
The smile I could not hide

You took me in your arms
The ceremony began
The bride and groom exchanged their vows
We hardly noticed them

You leaned in again to kiss me
Just like you have before
But then you stopped and turned
And you headed towards the door

"Wait! Don't go, I beg you!"
I called out and I cried
But straight on towards the door you went
Looking to neither side

I stood there for a moment
Not knowing what to do
And then I took my high heels off
And I ran after you

When I found you, you were crying
Something I'd never seen you do
But then my vision went to black
And once again, I'd lost you

And now that I'm awake
I can't help but wonder what it means
That though you're still so far away
You're here in all my dreams
One of my friends came to me a few days ago upset about a dream that she had had. The poem sort of wrote itself. I had been wanting to use the phrase "Dear Somebody" for a while now and, as she didn't want her name or "Somebody's" name mentioned I finally had the chance to use it. I hope you enjoy.
